Need a little pick-me-up?
You know, a bit of caffeine and a little something sweet… like a warm mug of love and self-care?
A hot coffee, with fancy flavors, often does the trick!
While delicious, fancy coffee shop drinks are full of additives, sugar, and countless ingredients that you may want to avoid. Dare I even mention the price tag? They’re not exactly budget-friendly. 🙁
One popular coffee chain’s Salted Caramel Mocha contains 59 grams of sugar and a whopping 470 calories in a 16 -ounce serving.
That’s close to 25% of normal daily calorie requirements, plus nearly 12 teaspoons of sugar — in a single drink!
Those fancy coffees are looking more and more bleak, wouldn’t you agree? So far, we’ve established that they’re not health-friendly, budget-friendly, or figure-friendly!
The sweet flavor of caramel, combined with hot coffee, freshly whipped cream, and a salty finish makes salted caramel mochas hard to resist. There has to be a better way to get that fix, right?
Dairy-Free Salted Caramel Mocha (with homemade caramel!)
Coconut milk gives you a dose of healthy, dairy-free fat, while Wildly Organic’s Coconut Syrup adds that caramel-y touch without highly processed sugars. Both will help keep blood sugar crashes to a minimum, while giving you that sweet-salty coffee shop flavor you crave.
Here’s how to make a simple homemade salted caramel…
- 2/3 cup Wildly Organic Coconut Syrup
- 2/3 cup Wildly Organic Coconut Milk Powder
- 2/3 cup water
- 2 teaspoons Wildly Organic Himalayan Salt
In a saucepan, whisk together coconut syrup, coconut milk powder, and water. Simmer for 20 minutes. Remove from the heat and whisk in the salt. Cool to room temperature, then transfer to the fridge. It’s now ready to use in your Dairy-Free Salted Caramel recipe!
